Re: Is it back?From: anonymous@obgyn.netMon Nov 29 15:05:56 2004
Hi... I did not have my endo lasered off, I had an 8 cm chocolate cyst on my right ovary drained. I was also told I had significant scar tissue, but they didn't do anything with it. (It seems my trip to the ER and immediate surgery was just to relieve the pain I was complaining of). At any rate, two weeks post-op I had another cyst on my left ovary (4 cm). There was previously no mention of this cyst when before or after I was in the OR so my ob/gyn (not my surgeon) assumed it was new. Three months later I went in for another follow-up and had another cyst on my right ovary (also 4 cm). In between the 2 wk and 3 mo appointments (about 1.5 months post-op) I started on natural treatments (supplements, endo diet, progesterone cream, fish oil, liver detox) to help my endo symptoms. Note, while I was feeling tons better after surgery, I was still experiencing some mild discomfort, PMS and pain with my period. Since I started natural treatments, I no longer experience any pain, PMS or bad periods despite the known presence of scar tissue and two 4 cm cysts. So yes, endo can grow back very quickly! :( From what I've read it typically grows back in the same areas and that excision surgery (as opposed to laser) seems to be the most effective in terms of removing endo more long term. And yes, it is also possible that they didn't remove it all and that's what might be causing your pain. :( Did your ultrasound show any signs of cysts? Oh, I did experience a lot of fatigue when I was dealing with endo pain. I would classify it as extreme fatigue as I was really fighting to stay awake nearly everyday. I think when our bodies are trying to fight all the pain it takes it's toll and it exhausts us... Wishing you pain-free days. Melanie
