Thanksgiving In The Hospital

From: Jean (anonymous@obgyn.net)

This was not the Thanksgiving I'd planned. I woke up at 2:00am last Thursday with an acute abdomen and by 5:00am was in such extremis that I had to call an ambulance. Ended up with a nice incision (which I'd been trying to avoid since forever) from xiphoid to pubis. They had to give me five units of blood (and I've been avoiding transfusions forever) to operate because my hematocrit was under 20. I think there was an umbilical hernia mentioned, 2.5 liters of ascites, endo, adhesions, and no cancer. A week-plus later, here I am home, in somewhat of a daze. Actually, I'm kind of grateful to be so spaced out.
