Re: Injectable contraceptive can weaken bones (CBC.ca)From: Kae (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed Nov 24 08:19:54 2004
I just wanted to give everyone a little information on Bone Density. I had to request that my doctor give me the DEXA x-ray which is a x-ray that tells you what your T scores are my doctor said that I was too young to have bone loss I am 19 and have been on depo provera as I said before for 5 1/2 years he did give me the test because I was insisting that I get the test it came back that I have a -1 on my hip and a -1.5 on my spine or it is reversed hip -1.5 and spine -1 I cannot remember but I was told that it could be reversed I have made the decision because of my endo to stay on depo provera even though the doctor wants me to be off of it. The reason I choose is because I am not ready to have a child yet and I don't want the endo to come back with more of a impact. I feel like there is no other medication that has helped with my endo except Depo Provera and Lupron but here is some information on the Bone Density:Age mg/cm2 T-score • Normal bone: T-score better than -1. 25 955 zero • Osteopenia: T-score between -1 and -2.5 35 945 -0.08 • Osteoporosis: T-score less than -2.5 45 920 -0.28 55 876 -0.64 65 809 -1.19 75 740 -1.75 85 679 -2.24 I feel so bad some of the time my back hurts constantly before I started the Actonel to try to reverse it I had bone cramps it felt like my bone was breaking from the inside out that is why I requested the test now it is not that bad I have back pain sometimes but not real bad. I hope and pray that everything goes well with reversing this. I hopw this gives you ladies some information and if you have any questions or any feedback feel free to post it or email me at kimcrde2@yahoo.com
