Re: all the pain is backFrom: Lori (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon Nov 22 14:16:00 2004
A lot of Drs. suggest deprovera & other synthetic progesterones to cause a simulated pregancy. When women with endo get pregnant their pain subsides a bit or completely but usually comes right back after. I have used it 3 years with no side effects, not a cure, but a way to suppress the endo growths. As you may read, there are a lot of horrible effects that are caused by synthetic progesterones... Natural progesterone cream is bio-identical to what your body makes during a pregnant state. The only side effect I have ever heard of is sleepiness if you use too much. Look it up! Search progesterone cream with the word side effects & see if anyone is complaining. Of course that is possible. Look up Lupron, deprovera...side effects also & compare by talking to actual women and not the nice pamphelts or the advertising-talk to real women! This is how I came to my decisions. It was against what my dr. suggested as he suggested lupron or a hysterectomy. Of course do not abandon your MD's as we need them & no offense to them as they do not study this route. The dosage needs to be altered to the amount that works for each individual. It took a month to work for me & some other women I know, but it can take up to 6 months to work I hear. It is not birth control & cannot be used with BCP's. Most MD's/gyno's do not believe that it contains enough progesterone to work or they scoff at it, ask your gyno what he thinks. I did have a saliva test done to measure my progesterone level after using the cream for years and it was 395, which is very high-the amount a pregnant women makes, not sure in what month, possibly late pregnancy. Research everything I say ok & ask a lot of questions from your Dr. Look up the word - prostaglandins & fish oil together on the internet as it is hard to explain, but I think the basis is that fish oil is anti-inflammatory. I do the endo diet and more.. Building your body up with nutrition will help your chance of pregnancy. Lots more info on the nutrition end on the link below if interested. Also on the endo zone here on the ob-gyn site, there are some articles about eliminating wheat & other supplements that help. Diligence & Discipline is the key if choosing this route. I have had it 20 years & now it is almost a year of treatment & feeling just fine. Sorry for the book!
