Re: long term narcotic pain meds and withdrawl

Awww, I feel for you Ann! I have been on MS Contin for the last several months and I know I will be going through the same thing when it's time for me to go off. I tried dropping the dose one weekend and it was awful. Normally I take 45 mg twice a day and I tried going down to 15 mg twice a day. My pain mgmt doc said I went down too fast, and when it was time for me to go off he would give me a very gradual tapering schedule and also some kind of patch that would help. Maybe you could ask your doctor about the patch? I have no idea what it is but hopefully he/she will know. I am probably going to be switching to Methadone since the MS Contin has never worked. I had a lap (laser) on Oct 8th and my pain is actually a bit worse than it was before. I was going to wait and tough it out before going through withdrawals and changing meds, but I can't handle it any longer. Anyway, call your doctor and hopefully they can help you get through this!!

Take care, Angie
