Re: Lupron

I took lupron for 6 months about a year ago. It was THE BEST 6 months of my life! For the first time since I was 14 (I am 27 now) I didn't have daily pain/nausea. My periods stopped completely as soon as I had the first shot. My back pain went away and I was able to lead a normal life (and find out what living a normal life was all about). The side effects I experienced were weight loss (which I am already small and can't afford to loose too much weight) and hot flashes (which was welcomed since I am such a cold natured person). BUT as soon as the six month wore off... I was back to where I started, the pain came rushing back. I begged to go back on the shot, however was told that for my own future health I could not.

I just had my first lap last Friday and am waiting to see the doctor to schedule another round of lupron. He says this will be my last round then I have to either start trying to get pregnant or look into a hysterectomy. I have read many horror stories about lupron and the side effects, however I haven't/didn't experience anything like them... I can only hope that the second round is as good as the first.

Just know that each woman's body is different. My body had a good reaction to the drug while other women's bodies have had bad reactions. You have to know your body and do what's best for you.

Good luck!

>Hi Mandy, I was on lupron for 6 months and it didn't do much for me. Yea, it was great not having a period, but the side effects weren't worth it. Some people have wonderful outcomes but I wasn't one of them. I still had endo pains and also mid treatment i bled for about 2 weeks and my ob/gyn had to prescribe meds to stop the bleeding. I would suggest maybe talking to your dr. about doing a 3 month trial with lupron to se how you react to it. Good Luck.
