Re: Bowel / colonoscopy

Kim, Paige and Tracy, I feel your pain, too! I posted once on this topic already today, before I read your posts. Man. It has been so frustrating for me to deal with the gastroenterologist. He knows nothing about endo, but I guess I can't blame him. After my incredibly painful flexible sigmoidoscopy, he told me I had a perfectly healthy colon and I started crying. "Why are you crying?" he asked, totally confused. I was just so frustrated to be told again, "you are fine" when I know something is definitely wrong. Also, my old GYN told me I couldn't possibly have bowel endo because he couldn't feel it during a pelvic exam and if I had endo affecting me this way, it would have to be huge, palpable gobs of it. Smart, doc, thanks.

Since then my endo has gotten significantly worse and now there is no debating I have bowel endo. When you can't sit down without bracing yourself and wincing anyway, there's just no debate. So at least I know now. Now that the pain is bad enough to cause me to vomit during my period, the doctors are suddenly listening!! This is a huge relief despite the fear I have of what this all means.
