Bowel / colonoscopyFrom: Kim (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Oct 28 17:29:06 2004
Hi all, since this has been a bowel type of day for the forum, I thought I'd get my questions in. I just had a colonscopy last week to rule out any bowel / GI type problems. My doctor suggested doing this before we proceed to the hyst. in dec. They didn't find anything last week regarding my bowels. He spelled out "Completely healthy colon, no inflammation, no redness, no polyps / masses or varicies. It is comforting to know that nothing else is wrong, but I am still really confused. It is hard for me to distinguish my bowel symtpoms from endo or if they are on in the same. About the same time last year I started having the unbearable pain (suffered from endo for about 7 years but was well-controlled until last year) and began taking pain medication to help with it. I cannot remember at the time before starting the pain medication if my bowel symptoms were there (who knew it would progress to this or I would have kept a journal) or if the bowel symptoms are only from the pain medication. The only bowel symptoms I have are constipation (at least once or twice a week I feel like I cannot BM) and pelvic / abdominal pain that goes from left to right depending on the day, or both sometimes. I would have never thought anything as far as GI, but my Dr. said my pain was a little high up and that during the lap he didn't see any endo on my bowels and didn't take pictures because "it looked normal." If anyone has similar concerns can you please e-mail me. I would love to go off the pain meds to see if the constipation part clears up, but again its not a daily problem and I take them daily- plus I don't beleive I could make it for a week without taking somthing. I don't have diarrhea or vomiting, but I do suffer from abnormal bloating, seeing that I am on Lupron... I don't have a cycle and shouldn't bloat like this. In my defense I have never had these types of problems and eat meticulously- count fiber grams to make sure I get 25-30g and eat fruits and veggies with every meal--- anyone feel my pain?
