Re: anyone here get pregnant even w/ endo, YES!From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat Oct 9 18:27:54 2004
I miraculously got pregnant. I was 25, had not taken the pill in about a year, had a miscarriage then 2 months later was pregnant for real. I suffered with endo since I was 15, and now have severe stage 4 endo. It depends where the endo is. If your tubes and ovaries are unblocked and functioning normally, it is possible to get pregnant. I believe pregnant women with endo should be seen as high risk pregnancies, although they rarely are. If I ever get pregnant again I'll demand to see a high risk OB. I developed preterm labor at 19 weeks, having as many as 15 contractions an hour, not on bed rest, working as a hairdresser standing all day long. My doc was so unconcerned, it makes me boil now when I look back on it. I know the high number of contractions were caused from the excess prostiglandins that women with endo have. There job is to cause muscle and uterine contraction. I ended up delivering by emergency c-section at 32 weeks after my water broke while I was sleeping at night. I went into immediate active labor, and my baby was being born feet first, which is a very dangerous condition. Thus, the c-section. There are so many more things I would watch for next time, and I urge all pregnant women with endo to stay off their feet even more than a regular pregnant woman, to adhere to the endo diet religiously, and demand proactive medical care. I now have an amazing, sweet, caring, very smart 6 year old boy, who really is my miracle. He suffered no long term effects from being a premie. I'm doubly blessed for that. It is possible, just keep trying. I know many women get pregnant soon after surgery. Some get pregnant with acupuncture and herbs. Just keep searching, it can happen. Best wishes!!
