Re: Losing the will to live - to Amy-Back to AnonymousFrom: Amy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Sep 30 10:15:38 2004
My bowel symptoms are: lots of loose stools any time of my cycle, diarrhea when on my period. Painful bowel movements, especially when I am on my period. Pressure and pain in my rectal area (including pelvic and tail bones) regardless of what point my cycle is in. I also bleed sometimes from my vagina if I strain to have a bowel movement. The blood is always bright red so I know it is fresh blood. If I sit for long periods of time or ride in a car for awhile, I will often start bleeding from my vagina, again bright red blood. I also am nauseous a lot. I did have a colonoscopy to rule out any other cause and nothing was found, so we (me and Doctor)know it is from the endo. I have endo adhesions on my actual bowel and all three laps I have had show the uterus and bowel to be stuck together from scar tissue. After my laps when this scar tissue is removed and the bowel and uterus are freed up and no longer stuck together, the pain and pressure goes away and my bowel movements are normal. This lasts for awhile and then it gets bad again. My colon looks great from the inside so at least I have the peace of mind to know nothing else is wrong. I have Stage 3 endo and for me, the rectal pain is one of the worst parts. I have lots of pain elsewhere too though. I just had my third lap in June and Doc freed up the bowel and uterus. I could tell the day after surgery that he had done this because the rectal pain was completely gone. I am also now doing a second course of Lupron (first was in 2001) and am not experiencing any endo pain at all, anywhere. I know it is only a matter of time before it returns though, which stinks! I am going for total hysto (including ovaries) next time things get bad again. I hope this latest lap and lupron at least buys me a year or two before I have to get radical. I have battled endo for 12 years now, and at age 33, am too tired to keep fighting, so I want it all gone when it comes back. My doctor supports that decision, so at least I don't have to worry about dealing with a doctor who thinks I am too young for complete organ removal. If I can help or answer more questions, post back on the forum to me, or feel free to email me at ameyer@dbllaw.com. I will keep your email address private. Thanks! Amy
