Re: Losing the will to live

First of all, whatever life throws at you there is a way to get through it. I have experiecned similar pain that has been endo and adhesions on the bowel and in the pouch of douglas (or cul-de-sac as it is also known). I had an endo educator explain to me that sometimes the pain travels up your intestines and that is why my original pain manifested as appendicitis. I also learned from my acupuncturist that the nerves in your bowel and spine are shared, hence the painful bowel movements.

I know just what you mean when you say the pain is severe, I rate mine as bad as surgery pain. I also have been diagnosed with suspected adenomyosis and I am having a hysterectomy in 11 days time. The pain is unbearable at times and I can't sleep or get comfortable.

Please talk to your doctor about getting some better pain relief. Sometimes it is helpful to scale your pain. That means when the doctor asks you how much you are in you have your own scale from 1 -10, 10 being the worst pain you have ever felt (my example is having my appendix out and a burst ovarian cyst at the same time) and one being the least. That way you can put it into context so the doctor understands how bad it is for you.

I have personally found the most effective pain relief to be a combination of vioxx and panadeine every four hours. I also use a wheat bag, like a heating pad to put on my back and front to ease the pain. It is very important to manage your pain so you don't get too distressed. I find relaxing myself is essential, as I often get distressed and feel rigid with pain and that only makes it worse.

You will find a way to manage the pain and whatever else is happening. I hope that the colonoscopy will give you some more answers.

Thinking of you, Jude.
