Re: I had an ideaFrom: Amy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed Sep 22 11:05:18 2004
Whoa! I don't think anyone was tooting their own horn, nor trying to reinvent the wheel. I personally did not know that there was a yellow ribbon campaign for endo and I feel that I am pretty current on what is going on. I don't consider myself to "live under a rock" as you put it. As far as changing the ribbon color, I think people only suggested changing the endo ribbon to a different color so people would not mix up the endo cause with the ribbons to support the troops. Yellow has long been a show of support for the military. I remember being a young child and seeing all the yellow ribbons tied around trees to support the troops and hostages in Iran. While it may reinvent the wheel, a different color could simply make the cause stand out more. That is just my thought on what people were thinking. While I agree that we should investigate more about what is already being done before we beat anyone up for not doing anything, I personally felt beat up reading your response! Nothing like getting on the forum for some comfort and end up feeling like you are stupid because you are not as aware of current events, legislation, etc. as SOME people. Many women new to endo may not know some of the things that are in progress already. It takes some time to learn and research. Even if I had been aware of the yellow ribbon campaign and not replied to Jenni that I thought she had a great idea, I definitely would not have sent a response to slam her for trying to be helpful. Fighting endo is hard enough without getting slammed on a support forum for simply not knowing about all the current information. Non-anonymous Amy Meyer!!!
