Re: has anyone experienced this???From: Jude (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Sep 16 17:41:57 2004
Dear Jess, I'm sorry to hear you are having such an awful time with endo. You are not alone!!! I too have had similar endo experiences with ovarian cysts and a bad time with provera and depo-provera in which I bled constantly for six months until I stopped taking it. I personally don't think provera or depo-provera are effective treatments for endo, but this comes from my own biased experience that I cannot back up with any scientific data. I have had some relief with major diet changes and vitamin supplements. The following I find most helpful: a Women's multi supplement, make sure it is a good quality supplement with at least 25mg of B vitamins; A bio-magnesium supplement to help with cramps; and marine fish oil capsules to help relieve inflammation. I have also made some major diet changes that include: low dairy - hard cheese and acidophilus yoghurt only and no wheat - this includes breads, baking, sauces, soups, everything. Also I have cut out sweets, fizzy drinks and coffee. I found that these changes have helped me manage my bloating and pain but it doesn't make it go away. If you are able, some gentle exercise like walking I have found personally helpful. To do all of the above I consulted a dietician and a naturopath to make sure that I am eating healthy and taking safe amounts of vitamins. I would also think about getting a second opinion if I were in your shoes. All the best, Jude.
