Re: A Few QuestionsFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netThu Sep 9 16:36:09 2004
Hi Margaret. I just posted earlier on the liver detox I use (there's a link on that message, look for the one with my email I posted earlier today). As far as my multi-vitamin... My naturpath put me on one called Nutri-Fem (it is designed for women under 40) by Thorne. She tells me you can only get Thorne products via a professional, but I've seen their products on the web. The nice thing about this multi is that it has no fillers or binders (which can be pretty bad for you). Also, the pills are not that big, but if you get them and find that they are too hard to swallow, they come in a capsule that you can open up and the vitamin is then in the form of a powder. The dosage for all the nutrients is 8 tablets a day, which is a lot! Most good multi-vitamins are the kind where you take several a day because of our bodies' ability to absorb nutrients (we can't take in a lot at once). However, my naturpath has me only taking 4 a day (because I take other things with vitamins and minerals throughout the day and I eat very well). I take two in the morning and two at night. I thought I'd forget all the time, but so far I have not skipped it a single time. As far as not having organic products around... Just be sure to wash your fruits and vegetables very thoroughly and that will help a bit (I think there's probably all kinds of things on the web for the best way to wash nonorganic fruit to get rid of pesticides). There is also a list of fruits and vegetables that are nonorganic that are less toxic than others. Unfortunately, I just lent out my book listing all of these, hopefully someone else will know this (Lori--it's in the book, Endometriosis: A path to healing through nutrition--can you help)? Off hand I know strawberries and peppers (red, yellow, etc) are high on the list. Drinking lots of water will also help reduce your bloating. It sounds strange, but the reason our bodies hold on to the water (which causes the bloating) is in part because it needs MORE water. I've also just recently learned that dairy causes me to bloat, perhaps cutting that out might help you. Hope this helps. Good luck to you! Melanie
