Hi Mary, I just want to say that I agree totally with Ann, you should get a second opinion or even third if needed. It definitely is best to see a specialist if you can, if not, you may need to do some homework on the GYN's in your area to see what ones have experience with endo. patients.Just curious, was your Doctor a GYN, Family Practice Doc.,or a General Surgeon? The reason I ask is that the first lap. I had for pelvic pain the Doctor said my appendix was wrapped up in adhesions - and that the pain was from appendicitis not GYN stuff (I was admitted to the hospital because of pain & multiple large ovarian cysts on both ovaries - of course there was no mention made of the cysts after the surgery, & I became a general surgery case instead of GYN.)The pathology reports of the appendix came back normal by the way, & I was pretty much dismissed by the surgeon & GYN after that, & told I just had dysmenorrhea & pretty much just deal with it.There was never any explanation given as to why I had adhesions, why I still had pain, & where the cysts went.I swithched to a new Doctor right after, & about two years later finally had another lap. & was diagnosed with endo.It was there all along - the Doc's doing the surgery just had no idea what they were looking at or for & the first thing they saw was the appendix and left it at that. The adhesions had formed over time from constant irritation from the cysts bursting & the endo. Sorry this was so wordy, but I just had to respond as it sounded kind of like what I experienced at age 20, and I wouldn't want you to have to go through the run around I went through, & risk delayed diagnosis.Ask questions - like what were the pathology results on the appendix, did they do biopsies in any areas to see if there was endo.(that confirms whether or not you have the disease & detects microscopic endo. that is not visible to the eye ), why did you have adhesions etc. If you didn't have any previous abdominal surgeries, & the appendix didn't rupture (it doesn't sound like that was the case) you really shouldn't have scar tissue, it's not a normal finding so you need to have someone find out the cause behind it & be able to give you clear explanations on their findings.Hope I didn't scare you, & again sorry my reply was so long. Take Care, Sara'
