Re: Lupron Depot Shots-For Nichole from Amy

Nichole, I am 32, going on 33 in a few weeks. I am married but neither my hubby or I want kids. (he is 39) We have fur babies instead! (3 dogs, 3 cats) I was ready to have a complete, total hysto this summer but then decided I did not know if I was ready for permanent menopause at such a young age. Fertility has never been an issue for me or hubby. I had even gone through several counseling sessions to prepare for hysto, then changed my mind. So for now, I am doing the Lupron again (did it once for 9 months in 2001-2002) to just buy a couple years. When the pain returns again, I will go for the surgery. I do very well on the Lupron, so I think I would handle natural menopause pretty good, so don't know what scared me.

I also could not afford to take time off from work without pay right now. I get 10 days sick time a year, but have no short term disability, so most of my hysto recovery time would have to be unpaid. Instead I opted for a third lap in June, used all 10 sick days to recover from that, and started the Lupron again about a month after surgery. I know I will only feel good for awhile before it all comes back, but at least I bought some time and now feel I have done it all and that hysto is the last resort. I completely understand your decision to go for surgery now. It is no fun being in pain for years and years (it's been 10 for me) and watching life pass you by because you feel to bad to participate!

Weird about the Meyer name and cousin! Small world isn't it? Meyer is my married name but my maiden name was Irons.

If you want, feel free to email me at my work email instead of the email listed on the forum, which I am terrible about keeping up on. At least with work, I am in email all day. My work email is: ameyer@dbllaw.com.

Hugs! Keep in touch! I want to know how you are doing.

>>>>Hi Ann, Well the reason I say I won't have kids is cause my husband had a vasectomy before I met him so I already did my grieving over that. I have been living with this pain for almost 13 years now and it is so tiring. I have done the Birth Control pills, and diet and such but it just doesn't matter it seems as though the endo keeps attacking me. My right side is in so much pain anymore that after four hours of standing I hurt and I am a cashier. My dr. mentioned the Lupron Shots and so was wondering if people have heard much I have heard all negative and it affects women obviously different. I have heard more negative though than positive so what have you heard if anything? Thanks for talking I feel I have no one due to my situation with endo. My mom had it done years ago due to a pre cancer stage. Anyways thanks for listening. Nichole
