Re: CYSTOSCOPY

Nikkie,

I had a cystoscopy done a few years back during a time when I was having chronic bladder infections (2-3 a month). Thankfully the infections have stopped but curiously enough the endo started around that same time. The procedure, for me, was not painful at all. I was told to take some Tylenol before I came in and it was all I really needed. They put some numbing gel into the urethra and I really didn’t feel a thing. I was alert and able to watch the monitor as the dr explained what he was seeing. It was acually kinda cool. It didn’t take long at all – 5 to 10 minutes tops. I had it done over my lunch hour and went back to work directly afterwards. I think I’m pretty average when it comes to being able to tolerate pain…..maybe a little on the whimpy side and this to me was ok. Now, with endo, I would worry more about a pelvic exam – talk about painful!!

Please don’t worry about this test. Everyone is different but I'm sure it will go fine.

Best of luck!
