The short answer is yes, mood is defintely affected by hormones. There is scientific evidence that a reduction in estrogen makes women anxious, forgetful, irritable and disinterested in sex. This does not mean that you are mentally ill, it means that your body is out of equilibrium. I encourage to consider some alternative options to the depo-provera, given that it is causing so much chaos in other areas of your life. Like for exmaple, a natural progesterone, if the depo-provera is helping control your endo symptoms. If not perhaps it is time to seek a second opinion and consider other treatment options. I know from personal experience how upsetting and distressing this can be, so hang in there, you will get it sorted.
