Re: hysterectomy

My Doc tells me that because I have endo, I have to have my ovaries taken out since they produce estrogen, which is the fuel for endo. Uterus and cervix would come out too, since they are pretty useless without the ovaries. I just had another lap and am starting lupron again today. I basically went this route to buy time before the inevitable hysto. I wasn't ready to be in total menopause at 33, but will definitely have everything taken out when the pain returns. I hope to buy at least a couple more years. I hear so much conflicting info about what to take out for endo that I am confused! I guess different Docs have different ideas, or maybe it depends on exactly where the endo is and what problems it is causing? For me, because I am totally pain free while on Lupron, he says that means that if I have my ovaries out, I should not have any more endo problems. But of course, we all know even total hysto does not cure it. Feel free to email me direct at my work email ameyer@dbllaw.com if anyone wants want to talk further. Maybe we can figure it out!

Hugs! Amy Meyer
