Re: treatment questions.From: Allie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue Jul 20 13:35:40 2004
Nicki, I'm just finishing my last month of Synarel (the same stuff as Lupron, but in a daily nasal spray rather than monthly shots), so I've been asking a lot of the same questions. The main answer that I have found is that, although it's a pain to go back on birth control, if you don't go back on it, the hell of the Lupron was fairly pointless. The Lupron's purpose was to prevent more endo growth, and shrink the growth you had. To go back to allowing your body to producce estrogen immediately would be to allow the endo to grow back. Going on BC right away is intended to minimize that regrowth. It should be a "mini-pill" that only has progesterone in it; when I was on those before, they weren't too bad (I've had much worse pills). I'm all for trying the diet changes, but they get to be expensive. Gaining 10lbs isn't too bad, over the six months...I think I've gained closer to 20, and I've heard horror stories of people gaining 40. The best of luck...
