Tiana and Wendy: Just a little history about me first: had endo for 10 years, stage 3, just recently had my third lap, did Lupron once, getting ready to start it again. Basically trying to buy time until I bite the hysterectomy bullet.

I wanted to respond in regards to anti-depressants. I started taking Lexapro about a year and a half ago and it helped my mood swings and depression tremendously. I also take birth control (lo-ovral continuously) and for me, I think part of my depression has been from the pills, although I tend to be on the moody side anyway. The anti-depressants have really helped me. I do not want to push anything on anyone, but it may be worth talking to your family doctor about it. My OB/Gyn has nothing to do with me taking them. When I became interested in pursuing it, I made an appointment with my regular family Doc. My OB does know I am on them but he does not do the prescribing. I am sorry to hear that one of your Docs told you that's just the way it is! I totally disagree! No one should feel so depressed and no Doctor has a right to blow you off!

Right now, I have quit taking the Lexapro since I am getting ready to go back on Lupron. I have discovered through this forum, other Net research, and by talking to my OB/Gyn that taking anti-depressants while on Lupron can make the depression worse, bordering on suicidal thoughts, so I have stopped it for now, and I can tell a big difference! I have been a raging, crying, hormonal basket case ever since I stopped the anti-depressants. That just tells me that it was really making a positive difference for me. I think it would be worth talking to your Doc about. Mine tells me that I could stay on it forever if need be with no long term effects. If either of you, or anyone else who reads this ever wants to talk more about it, feel free to email me direct. (airons@one.net or ameyer@dbllaw.com)

Hugs and good luck! Your forum sisters are here for you! Amy Meyer
