Re: Article by Dr. RedwineFrom: Angie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat Jul 3 14:05:48 2004
I was seriously considering going to Dr Redwine since his clinic is only 3.5 hours away. The problem is that they require you to pay 80% of the estimated surgery cost up front! I emailed them asking if they would make an exception since I am insured locally and they said no. There is no way in heck I can cough up a few thousand dollars so I'm not going. I find it very strange that they require local, insured patients to pay up front. I also talked to my OBGYN about Dr Redwine. He is familiar with him and called his technique "peritoneal stripping". He was very nice about the possibility of me seeking out a second opinion but did say one thing that made sense. If the "stripping" procedure worked so well, why weren't all surgeons doing it? He felt that it would possibly make things worse because after the tissue was removed, it would leave a raw surface that would be prone to scar tissue formation. Anyway, I probably would still consider going to see him if it weren't for the up front payment!!
