I just started gathering all of my insurance bills tonite. My first surgery with 4 hospital days cost $12,685. However, I dont think I've gotten all the bills in yet. So, it may be a little higher. I'm waiting to get new bills b/c the doctor didnt get the coding right so they were overcharging me (what else is new). I now have a cool spreadsheet set up for my taxes that shows my medical expenses by category so I have an easy time filing at the end of the year. I've been consulting with IRS Publiction 502. That has the list as to what's eligible to claim. You'd be surprised what you can claim.
