hi abby:)

how long have you had your iud for? there's a couple ways to do it... i only just got mine put in a couple days ago for progesterone therapy, and i'm going back in about 3 weeks to have my gynecologist check it.

BUT... if you are going to check it once a month? i believe all you have to do for iuds is just reach inside you and feel around your cervix for the string that hangs out of your cervix. it's not like a tampon string, but its there with not much hanging out. i am doing a research project for my university's on campus women's centre on contraceptives, and i read that you can check your iud is in place by just reaching inside towards your cervix and just feeling the string. call your doctor if you are unsure... i dont think you're supposed to pull on the string though;)

good luck kasi
