Re: a ? for all women who have had multiple lapsFrom: Jen (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue Jun 8 16:52:07 2004
Hi Vanessa, I am scheduled for my 3rd lap on Monday, so I may know more then. But.... here is my brief history. Had first lap - told it was stage 1, all was removed (cut out) and told I'd be OK. I didn't really notice an improvement in the pain at all. 1 year later (almost to the day) had my 2nd lap (with new doc) after increase in bleeding, pain etc. This time they burned the lesions, (stage 2) and severed the group of nerves in the area to lessen future pain. (These is a name for the procedure - I just can't think of it right now.) After surgery I was given a shot of progesterone, then put on Depo Provera. That was 7 years ago. The first year I felt great. 2nd-3rd years, just twinges of pain from time to time. For the past 4 years or so the pain has been coming back gradually until the past 2 years when it became almost unbearable at times. It seems this time there are additional problems (bladder, bowel, joints, etc.) Whether this is due to Endo (a great scapegoat) or simply age - I don't know. ALthough I hate to think of my body as aging LOL. I also haven't stopped bleeding for almost 6 months. (And yes - I'm still on Depo Provera.) I don't think I'll ever know if the endo came back worse after the 1st surgery or if the first Doc just wasn't near as good as the 2nd one. Now I'm on my 3rd (due to a move). We'll see. Hope this helped. :)
