Who has Stage 4 Endometriosis? Please respondFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed May 26 17:56:06 2004
Hi all, Okay, I finally got more clarity (6 weeks post op) as to exactly what happened during my surgery. I'm wondering how many of you who are Stage 4 have complete obliteration of the cul-de-sac and massive bowel adhesions. Have any of you had them sucessfully excised without the need for a hysterectomy? According to what I read, my left ovary was actually pulled out of the cul-de-sac and flipped over the round ligament (I think that's what holds the uterus in place). They could not complete the dissection beyond the lower uterine segment. Because of the severity of the adhesions, IVF may not even work for me. I may be able to conceive naturally from the left tube and ovary. Right ovary was resected and large cyst removed. My issue is I still feel a pain like something is tearing behind the vagina when we have sex. Also pain with bowel movements but who cares about that. I'm going to try an anesthetic gel (like the kind you use for gums) to see if maybe that numbs the pain enough so we can have sex. My doctors are completely against the idea of further surgery. I'm sending my records in to Atlanta and see what they say. This is so messed up. Why me? Why did it have to be me? My life was perfect..... Confused
