Re: IUD for possible Endo?

Hi Amy,
I have tried the Mirena IUD to control pain and my advice is to tread
with caution. I was told it would be painful getting the IUD put in and
it was more painful than I had anticipated. I was also told that 5% of
women do not tolerate IUD's and unfortunately I happened to be one of
them. I was already in chronic pain and the IUD caused more. I tried
very hard to tolerate it to the point of taking 400mg of celebrex and
4gms of paracetemol a day to calm it down. It turned out to be a very
expensive and painful experiment to manage endo.
I would also encourage you to seek a second opinion, it is not normal to
have such painful periods. Please seek the advice of a gynaecologist
who specialises in treating endometriosis.
Kind regards, Jude.
