Re: Post-laparotomy urinary painFrom: Anne-Marie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue May 11 20:37:31 2004
I presume that you have had infection ruled out by your Doctor? If it has been ruled out then it will more than likely be Intersitial cystitis as the other lady says. My Doctor scripted amitripttyline as it actually can block bladder pain and relaxes the muscles of the bladder. A lot of the pain with that is generally an urgency feeling with me and relaxing the bladder helped a lot. For inflammation I took quercetin and bromelain complex and it has virtually calmed inflammation down in a day or so. You will need to go on a clean diet and avoid foods that aggravate the bladder lining in that case, and give you bladder some time to hel properly. Also take a good course of acidophilis or increase your uptake of low sugar, low fat yoghurt which has biffidus in it as well as other cultures. If your bladder is really sore, try eating a simple diet for a day or two like broths, yoghurt and those supplements above. Calcium citrate and magnesium is also supposed to help. I usually use the TUMS variety of antacids as they have both in and they help me a lot.
