Re: Endo back 6yrs after complete hystFrom: Anne-Marie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue May 11 05:12:46 2004
Just wondering if either of you read the Blood Type Diet book? If you know your blood type you can learn the best type of foods to eat to imporve your health and immune system. Apparently type O's have much thinner blood than type A's, AB's or B's. Anyway, type O's also have higher levels of digestive enzymes or stomach acids than than the other blood types also. So they digest food more effectively. In fact so effectively that some carbs are best avoided as they are absorbed and digested to quickly and cause a drop in blood sugar. Type A's should not eat red meat as it is too hard to digest and because it moves slowly through the gut, it has a lot more time to ferment and cause problems. They reckon type A's should therefore eat more fish such as white fish, salmon, tuna, mackerel and sardine for their protein source. Occasionally well cooked chicken or turkey. Most blood groups are told to avoid wheat as it is the most common allergen causing food. That and dairy causes problems. You'll learn about good lectins and bad lectins and which foods are high in bad lectins. Which foods your best of eating to get the best nutrition. For example, it's a waste of time eating meat if your digestive system is not cut out to digest it properly and take the nutrient from it, when it would find it easier to get good nutrient value from fish or chicken. Some fruits and nuts and vegetables should be avoided by certain blood groups. I could go on but basically, it's not as cuckoo as it sounds. I've been to endo sites and looked at diets recommended, and more or less all foods you should eat are on my food list fo eating as a type A. To my mind if you have a bowel blockage, on top of being say type A, the last thing you need is to eat stuff that poses a problem to start with if you didnt have the bowel blockage. I.e. eating roast beef or lamb etc--unless you cook it real well and the meat is succulent and tender, it will be pretty hard to digest. Pineapple juice can help with digestion if taken a while before each meal as it complements your digestive system and also if you eat fresh pineapple, you'll get the enzyme effects transferred to the blood which thins it out slightly and will help to get circulation going much better and get your nutrients from said food to where they need to be. There is also the question as to whether you are a secretor or non secretor...much more interesting stuff, but if your a type A non secretor as I am then your blood flow is the slowest there can possibly be and you take longer to recover from illness, and certainly would be more prone to infections after surgery, or higher levels of fibrinogen in the blood, hence more susceptible to endo or adhesions. This would explain why some people such as my Mother with blood type O has had two caesareans and never had a problem...and why I and my sister blood type A's have had nothing but problems from day one. She smokes like a factory chimney, eats fat in her meat, ten inch of butter on her bread and is as thin as a latt and fit as a fddle. LOL! About the only think she doesn't do is simple carbs...but she has started more of that now at her age-56yo. But then she's blood type O and can get away with eating this way and such (well can for now.lol) since her blood is naturally thinner and because it moves much more quickly through her veins and arteries and she has a better circualtion, smoking related disease takes longer to eventuate and likewaise her arteries will take longer than a type A's on the same diet to fill with plaque you see. ;) Just recently for the first time, she was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in the knee and is gutted with that diagnosis. I had that diagnosis last year at aged 39yo and reversed the situation within 12 months with diet and exercise and attitude. She is only just now as blood type O getting this at aged 56yo and winges. LOL. Then she resignes herself to the fact she cannot do anything about it and that its no use trying. I reckon if she packed up smokes and ate well and exercised just a little she would make a much fatser recovery than I did due to her genetic advantage blood wise. I mean osteoarthritis is the early signs that bone loss is occuring and that your not moving enough or taking in enough calcium. It's reversible if you work at it. So I moved my body and took up weight training and improved my diet with this blood type book and have seen great results. I even stopped my endo for six months with that diet and supplenting with high vitamin regime and vitex (antioxidants), but had a vomiting illness a month ago and could not get the vitex down, or my supplements such as fish oil and vitmain E and vitamin C for two whole days. Of course stopping the vitex, there was a drop in luteinsizing hormone and progesterone and I then had a early period at the 21st day of my cycle and that was like ten endo attacks in one day. LOLOL! My bladder was a complete mess--frazzled due to the uterine contractions. I'm just building my supplements up again now. Having a problem with when to take vitex as the last few nights I have taken it with amitriptyline (which doc has prescribed for bladder pain--blocks it--great stuff!) and had weird heart palpitations which freaked me out. So, think I need to take the vitex first thing in the morning instead. The worst thing about this whole mess though is the comments from Doctors at times. Sometimes they dont even need to say anything, I just get the sense that they perhaps think its all in my head or that I am making too much of a big deal about it. I am not the type to take pain killers or seek attention. I was never abused as a kid. I hardly ever visited the Doctor before my caesars, preferring to find alternative natural solutions to my problems. If I had a Doctor speak to me the way that one did to you Christine I would definately put him in his place. (Then I would have found another Doctor. lolol) I'm just glad I searched through all my records and read my surgery notes or otherwise by now, I think I'd have gone completely stark raving mad thinking it WAS all in my head. I really hope you get some answers to what is causing your bowel pain. It makes me cringe it really does, and puts me off having further surgery a little. I mean this is bad now but is controllable with the right diet. I just cant eat the crap I used to eat without it plagueing me on my menses. I love the foods that I am eating though and I also know that they are the best for my body to handle after learning about the different blood types and how soething as simple as digestion can affect how you react to illness and why you are more prone to deficiencies than others etc. If anyone would like to have a diet sheet sent to them for their blood type, then please email me as I have them all on my PC. Just send me your blood type and I'll forward you it. They are word files though so you'l need Microsoft Word to read them. Best Wishes,
