Ovarian endometrioma.....hysterectomy?????????????From: Muriel (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed Apr 28 19:30:45 2004
Last October I was diagnosed with severe endometriosis via a laprascopy. All of the endometriosis & scar tissue was supposedly removed. Things were fine until January. I began having irregular periods ( every 6-8 days) although they were lighter than usual. I also began having severe pain in my right ovary. A vaginal ultrasound showed an endometrioma in my right ovary which had grown since my previous ultrasound in September. My GYN has recommended a total hysterectomy or else Lupron injections although those might not shrink the cyst. HELP.......I am a soon-to be-ex-smoker ( my quit date is in two weeks) so the pill is not an option for now. I have heard horrible things about total hystrectomy and am looking for other options. I read that I could have the cyst surgically removed & that a tubal ligation will prevent any further endometriosis. Does anyone have any ideas? I would also settle for removing the cyst and and endometrial ablation......PLEASE WRITE if you have any experience in this area........DESPERATE FOR OPTIONS.......
