During an ultrasound, a doctor may see something that confirms his suspicions, but the only way you can be diagnosed is via a lap. I think it is standard procedure to begin with an ultrasound. I had one a few months before my surgery, and my doctor didn't see anything. During my surgery, he found that I have stage iv endo on every organ you can think of.
