Re: Alternative Anti-Depressant

Just a "heads up" on Lori's comment about St. John's Wort. I've used it in the past for depression, suggested by my doctor, but when I tried it again relatively recently, I got a racing pulse and anxiety attacks. I stopped immediately and went to see my doc. He said it was a common side effect, even though I hadn't experienced it before, and if I wanted, I should try SJW again and the negative symptoms would eventually go away. He said I shouldn't have stopped, but since I hadn't experienced it before, I scared myself. So according to my doc, just hang on if these symptoms happen. You might want to check with your own doc (though so many in America scoff--I live in Sweden). Herbs are natural, but powerful. Opium is "all natural," too, so don't be lulled into thinking that natural remedies can't hurt sometimes. Don't mean to sound preachy, but I work with herbs a lot, and some should be handled with care. Good luck! Margarette
