Re: Help with Girlfriends EndoFrom: Denise (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Apr 22 23:04:06 2004
Hey, Ralph, All of that sounds good to me! No seriously, you are great for seeking out ways to help your girlfriend. Pitch in with the chores when you can. You don't even have to ask her what to do. Just vacuum, do dishes, or general straightening up (if she's picky about how some things are done, like laundry, don't try that just do obvious things like taking out the trash or feeding a pet). Men doing domestic things is such an uplifting feeling for a woman. Giving emotional support, which it seems like you probably already do. Give her simple treats like a foot massage or a flower you picked yourself or something else that you know she likes. It doesn't have to be extravagant. Give her space when she needs it (this may be hard to figure out). If you try touching her or holding her and she flinches or pulls away, it's not you. The pain is very bad and often even in the nerve endings (when the endo is inflammed then so are the nerves and that causes reciprocal pain such as in the legs). It just make us too sensitive to touch sometimes. Hope this helps. Here is a link to a site for men with endo partners: http://www.geocities.com/HotSprings/Spa/8449/
