health care USAFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue Apr 20 09:17:28 2004
Hi: I am Canadian and think of relocating because of work opportunities. I listen to the messages on this forum, and I watch TV, read the papers etc. It was my understanding that some people in the USA are forced to go without health treatment because they cannot afford it. Other people seem to get better treatment than others because of differing insurance. I hear people talk about not being able to afford drugs, tests, surgeries etc. I also hear people talk about not being able to see the dr they want too because of insurance confines. The reason I am telling you all of this is because on another forum, a member snapped at me for saying that "waiting times in Canada for referrals/surgeries/tests are a pain, but at least no one is denied treatment". She said that it is incorrect to say that anyone in the USA is denied treatment. I wasn't trying to be rude...I thought it was a private system? Can you please enlighten me? Thanks ladies.
