Yes, I asked my doctor the same question. He said I could still have a vaginal birth after having a laparotomy. If they did any cutting into your uterus though, it would depend on where they cut it. They cut mine to remove fibroids and my doctor said that where he cut was still okay for me to have a vaginal birth (that is, if I ever get pregnant and have a baby!). This is because if they cut the uterus in certain places it would be weakened and could possibly burst open during labor. Anyway, if you didn't have fibroids, you don't have to worry about that one.
