Re: KRISTY--Vulvodynia question for you--or for anyone!From: Kristy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Apr 8 00:29:52 2004
Anon, It's possible that you may have endo inside your vagina. One of the ladies on another endo list I'm on had this problem. As far as how often vulvodynia is mistaken for HPV the answer is more often than people might think. B/c of some of the symptoms you mentioned: joint pain for example have you been checked for fibromyalgia? Some women with vulvodynia also have fibromyalgia. You mentioned the bladder as far as burning on urination and that could either be related to a UTI or having too many oxalates in your urine or you may have Interstitial Cystitis. Vulvodynia can also be a symptom of IC. Yes it is also possible to have both vulvodynia and HPV. I have to ask though, did your dr do an actual biopsy of the area to see if it was HPV? If not that needs to be done to get a more definitive diagnosis. As to how to diagnose vulvodynia accurately one way is with a q-tip test. Pls feel free to e-mail me privately any time.
