KRISTY--Vulvodynia question for you--or for anyone!

Hi Kristy or anyone else--

I was diagnosed with Endo 4 years ago and have been on hormonal treatment following 2 surgeries since.

Over the last year or so I have been experiencing other symptoms that have been so frustrating to deal with because doctors can never seem to find any answer, and since reading postings on here, I'm wondering if all my symptoms might be due to vulvodynia.

I've had vaginal itching, redness, irritation, dryness, painful intercourse (at times), pain when a speculum is inserted during my doctor visits, and a general uncomfortable feeling for about the past year...I have been screened for all kinds of infections but nothing other than a yeast infection has come up. This past month, I went back to my dr. bc I noticed a white spot on my vagina...she wasn't sure what the spot was, but thought it could be a harmless cyst or skin condition. When she put some topical medication on it, it turned white, and she thought that since it turned white that it might be a vaginal wart, but wasn't entirely sure. I have noticed two other small white spots, but when I've read about HPV, it doesn't seem like I have all the symptoms. I haven't noticed a rapid spread of these isolated spots, and they don't resemble "cauliflower" like so many reports say about HPV. I also have had normal PAPs. When I went to the vulvodynia page you recommended, I was amazed to see I've had all these other symptoms associated with vulvodynia--fatigue, joint pain, burning on urination, etc. My question --how often is vulvodynia misdiagnosed as HPV? Could this still be HPV even though the doctor wasn't sure? Could I have both? Do the two go hand in hand? How can you be accurately diagnosed w. vulvodynia? Any answers are welcome!
