Re: New to Endo

Bryn,
As a follow up to the laparoscopy I had, I saw my doctor today. She
told me that during the surgery she did remove alot of adhesions. She
described the adhesions as being "spider-web like." One of my fallopian
tubes is adhered in a "C shape" and she was unable to free it up.
But, she was able to free up this thing called a "fat flap." She said
all women have this. I've never heard of that!
The Endo is stage 1. The pictures she took were amazing...kind of
gross, but amazing! She suggested I have a hysterectomy and included
taking both ovaries (and no HRT for 6 months after). She stated that
the hysterectomy would not get rid of all the endo. However, with no
ovaries and no hormones, the left over Endo would die off. I feel
pretty lucky in that I caught this before it got any worse. I guess
having all this happen at 49 years old isn't so bad either.
As for the "lump" in my groin area. The report came back saying it was
"non specific." She said it was like an abcess" I can't remember the
exact wording, but she said it had to do with me using powder possibly.
I don't use powder, or anything else for that matter. It drained a
scant amount for about 2 or 3 days after my surgery then became large,
hard, and painful. It was tunneling in a different direction than
before. Today, my doctor was able to get some fluid out of it for a
culture. She started me on antibiotics and a wet soak to it, hoping
that this might make me start feeling better. I go back in 2 weeks when
this is cleared up and then, I guess, press on with the other.
So far I haven't found any hard evidence relating all these things to
one another, but I have to agree with you. It just seems too
coincedental.
Bryn, thanks for responding and I hope you're doing well!
