Blood in Urine, wierd question....From: Angela (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat Apr 3 17:47:51 2004
OK, I know that this is the endo forums, but maybe someone here can help me. I went to the Dr. due to really bad back pain and there was visible blood in my urine, so he thought that it may be kidney stones. Well I got a CT scan done and it came back negative. So, I was referred to an urologist. I was at the urologist office for about 10 mins and he asked for a clean catch sample, which had visible blood in it, but then he came in about a minute later and put a catheter in for another urine sample, but this time there was no blood in my urine at all. He asked in a very accusatory tone, "How could there be no blood in the catheter sample, when there was blood in the clean catch sample?" I told him that I didnt know and that he was the doctor so I hoped that he could answer that for me. Then he told me to go to an OB/GYN. He was very rude and unhelpful. I explained what happened to my referring dr. and he was upset that I was treated so poorly by the urologist. So to make my long story short.... Does anyone know how I can have blood in my urine but not in the catheter sample?
