Struggling at 19From: Jane (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat Feb 28 19:09:52 2004
I am 19 years old, about to turn 20, and I have been suffering from painful periods from the age of 16 years old. My periods usually last 5 or 6 days and for the past few months have been occurring on a weekly basis. In the past month alone I have had 4 periods so far and have had an average of a 2 to 3 day break between. I have very heavy bleeding and have been even hospitalized due to lose of blood causing me to become unable to do anything including staying awake for more then just a few hours. I have a long family history of endometriosis, and was diagnosed without surgery because of my syptoms and history. I was on Depo-provara for 2 years until I started to bleed again and was taken off because my body was rejecting it. I have since then been put on the pill, and still no luck. I have an upcoming specialist appointment and am becoming very nervous and scared, I have been warned that it will probably be only a short time before I will lose my uterus, which breaks my heart, I want to have a child of my own someday and such a procedure will definately put a stop to that. I was just hoping to get any information from women that may have been in the same place as me, and any advice will be greatly appriciated
