Re: Natural Progesterone CreamFrom: Susan (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Feb 26 16:51:15 2004
It IS legal to sell in Canada. I would check your information source. It requires a prescription from your doctor like most other meds. Some insurance plans even cover it. Wild Yam cream is available OTC but it our skin does not have the abilitiy to absorb the progesterone in the form the hormone comes in the wild yam creams. A hormone specialist I was referred to in Dec. put me on it right away for estrogen dominance and endo. I see him again on Monday. Next week it will be 3 months since I started it. He put me on a very high dose applied twice a day every day, no break from it during my cycles at all. He was trying to stop my periods in an effort to get rid of the endo. However, I could not tolerate the high dose and had to cut it in half. I felt really tired and very nauseous. After the first month I had a normal period, then 27 days later another normal period, THEN on day 13 of the next cycle I got another period, completely normal just two weeks too soon. I called him and he told me to only take it from day 12 to the first day of my period and see what happens. I did that and it is now day 28 and I am still waiting for it. I can feel the familiar pains but so far no bleeding. I haven't seen any real improvement but have noticed a couple of not so nice effects from it. I will probably stay on it for another 3 months. It can take up to 6 months to see significant changes if it is going to work for you. If nothing has changed by then, then it probably won't. For me, after 3 months it isn't living up to its claims.
