Sherly:

Your symptoms sound very similar to mine before my lap. I had horrible cramping - so bad I thought I was dying. Once I almost passed out from the pain in the middle of a quickie mart and the ambulance came. Of course, they just told me, "sounds like bad menstrual cramping". Ugh.

Good for you for demanding that your doctor give you a lap. For me, personally, it was the only way to go. I think that birth control pills and even Lupron just mask the symptoms (if you are lucky) but they don't cure the disease. A lap, if done well, can remove all of the endo. Make sure your doctor is actually planning to remove the endo he finds while doing the lap. Some doctors will just note where it is and close you up again. I also had an endometrium tumor in my left ovary. My doctor removed it during the lap. The good news is that I no longer have any of the terrible cramps I had before I had surgery. (I am now posting again because I'm dealing with a few urinary/bowel problems that my doctors think might be endo again.) So there is hope for you after your lap!

There are web sites out there that actually walk you through a laparotomy and tell you what to expect. There are also web sites with good tips on how to prepare for a laparotomy. It's been several years since I looked at the sites so I don't remember where they are - sorry. Maybe someone else here has links to some web sites that can help you prepare for your lap.
