adhesions after numerous surgeriesFrom: Pat (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun Feb 15 00:00:14 2004
I just posted at the other place, but I guess I will try again. I had a nissan done 4 years ago and lost my spleen during the procedure. I got a staph infection and it ruptured my gastro tract and had to return to surgery for a leaky gut. Since then, I have had almost 15 surgeries including the nissan. I just recently had a lysis done for numerous adhesions in the lower abdomen. In April, I went to the ER with a fever and severe pain. My white cell count was 30,000. They did exploratory surgery but could not find anything to warrant the infection. My surgeon was on vacation, so his assoc. did the surgery and removed my mesh from previous hernias. I ended up in ICU on a ventilator for 12 days and almost died. IT has not been a month since the lysis was done and the pain is back in the groin area. Is there anything to stop the growth of these adhesions so quickly. I am on Loratab 5, I take about 4 a day to ease the pain. This doesn't feel like post surgical pain, because it doesn't feel like it. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Is there a support group for adhesion sufferers???? My surgeon left in some of the lactaid ringers in the hopes that it would prevent formation. Please help me.
