I've been on Lupron for nearly three months now (11.25 mg) and am about to get my second shot. In 1998-99 I took it for three months and would have taken it longer but was told I shouldn't because of the risk to my bones. Everyone reacts differently to Lupron (as these forums demonstrate clearly). For me, the hot flashes and mild side effects didn't start until several weeks after I received the first shot. I consider myself pretty lucky. If you are worried about being given Lupron, I'd highly recommend asking your doctor to try you on 3.75 mg of it for one month (or even less if a smaller dose exists) rather than 11.25 for three. That way, if it doesn't work, you won't be stuck for as long. --Lys
