I also had trouble having a bowel movement after surgery...and after several miserable days of not going to the bathroom (about 5 i think)I took an enema. I think it is normal. First your body is going into shock, but also most pain medications cause constipation, so I'm sure you have taken pain medications after your surgery...they are probably the culprit!
