Re: Ultram - addiction

Hang in there, it will be rough. Do you still need something for pain? If so, pls discuss this with your doctor... there are long acting pain meds that might be more appropriate.

I used to take ultram/tramadol/ultracet during my periods and always made myself stop at the end of the period. Actually I mixed it with vicodin until my doctor told me what a bad idea that was... To me ultram can be more addictive in a wierd way than others that are supposed to be addictive but I find not. Howeever when they stopped doing anything for my pain, I didn't take them anymore.

Can you try acupuncture during the withdrawal, or some gentle stretching/breathing to distract your mind? I think the withdrawal phase should be most severe at the beginning and since you are tapering, it should be okay. Just treat it like giving up chocolate, coffee, alchohol... the first steps are hardest. Baths with epson salts are relaxing... they help me with pain, perhaps they would help here. And give yourself a treat for each day you are clear... Keep us posted, we are here for you... Jennifer At Tue, 27 Jan 2004, Catie wrote: >

He assured me that this was completely safe. Now I know that it is not and I am in the second day of no medicine. I was taking 2-50mg twice a day and with needing 2 knee replacements it helped wuth the pain. Now I don't know how to get over this feeling. How long will this last. Please give me some idea when I will get my life back. I wish that I had never heard of this medicine.
