Re: Information for allFrom: Allie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun Jan 25 14:19:38 2004
The pain you're having sounds similar to the pain I had after mine...I found clutching a rolled up blanket to my lower abdomen when standing and walking around helped immensely. It stopped that feeling that all my interal organs were rushing out of my belly button. I've been on Synarel, which is similar to Lupron--both are GnRH Analogs, or anti-hormones. The Synarel is a nasal spray used twice a day, rather than the monthly shots. This was a better option for me because my college is two and half hours away from my gynecologist. It also would allow me to stop taking it if the side effects are horrendous, and would be out of my system quickly. I go to school and work full time, and so far (it's only been about ten days), I'm doing fine. The side effects of Synarel are the same as Lupron, including the risk of bone ddensity loss, so take your calcium! If this sounds like something you'd prefer, talk to your doctor about it at your post op appointment. Do some research, educating yourself about your options. It's always good to be informed and have an idea of what your preferences of treatmenat are. Good luck, and if you ever want to talk to someone trying to make it through college amid pain and meds, feel free to email me.
