So you mean that you took one pack, finished the active pills, took a
week off to have a period, started a new pack, finished the active pills
in that one, and took another week off to have a period, and when you
started the next pack seven days later instead of your period stopping
it continued for 19 days while you were taking the active pills? You
could always call your doctor and talk to the nurse over the phone. I
had to do that a lot when I was trying to find a pill that would work
for me. Remember that not all the pills are alike and there may be one
out there that will work better for you. My doctor always made me stay
on one kind for at least four months before trying a different kind
because it takes your body a while to adjust to the horomones in the
pills. But you know your body better than anyone else, if you feel that
there is something else causing your pain, or that these pills are not
for you, call your doctor and see if they can give you a different pill
to try. When I first started taking the pill regularly(not continuous
yet) it took my body a while to adjust and I had long heavy periods that
didn't stop even when I started the new pack. It took a while for my
periods, which had been about 21 days long on average, to get
"regulated." If you are only going off the pill for seven days every 21
days, then the pills should eventually begin to regulate your periods
down to about seven days. Back when I was still having my period, it
would come about two days after I took the last active pill and would
stay until about two days after I began the new pack. But sometimes it
would stay longer even long after my body had "adjusted" to the
pills(though, thankfully not 19 days longer, I really feel for you).
Remember that you know your body better than anyone, and also that you
have to be your own advocate. Don't wait for an appointment, call the
doctor. The nurse will talk to you and relay the info to the doctor. At
least you would have some answers, then. I really wish you well and
hope your body adjusts soon!!
