Re: ERC position paper against pre-diagnosis LupronFrom: lauren (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Jan 15 16:58:42 2004
Liss: You asked:
>Why are our doctors leading us so vigorously toward Lupron instead of You seem familiar with the following articles, which disuss a potential answer to why doctors may promote Lupron so much -- just like you said, aggressive and illegal marketing techniques by TAP through which doctors and the company personally benefitted at the expense of women like us. http://www.essentialdrugs.org/edrug/archive/200110/msg00008.php http://www.endocenter.org/tap.htm But that is only a partial answer. Since the 1900, allopathic doctors (what we think of as dr.s, the only school of healing that is allowed to go by that name under current law) have always been out to put their competitors-- like herbalists and naturopaths-- out of business and discredit and/or ignore any competing views of healing. Its simply always been a part of allopathic medicine's philosophy that they have THE answers, and everyone else are a bunch of quacks. I think this goes pretty far to explain why doctors rarely tell women about their other options aside from drugs and surgery. Its simply their dogma, which says "I know best." I think its important to realize that although allopathic medicine has a lot to offer, when you are dealing with a chronic and slow moving diease, its always worth your while to get some answers from other schools of medicine, especially when the dominant one has gotten so corrupt as a result of being in bed with the drug companies. Just my opinion. -L
