Nan, I am confused, why would you be starting in the middle of the pack? When you are on bc you only go off for seven days, even if you are still having your period. You didn't wait the whole 19 days until your period stopped to start a new pack, did you? As for the pain, even though you are on bc, bc does not stop the pain completely. What helps minimize the pain is taking the pills continuously, meaning instead of taking a week off to have a period, you start a new pack just as soon as you finish the old pack. I was on bc for 6 years before my diagnosis of endo, and when I had my surgery I was already stage 4. Now I am on continuous bc, and have been for 4 years, and the pain has never gone away. Part of the problem with bc is that endo needs estrogen to grow, and there is estrogen in bc. The reason that your periods are still painful is due to the endo, because endo gets a thousand times more painful when you are bleeding, because the endo is bleeding, too and your body is reacting as if it is a wound by covering it with scar tissue. But that doesn't stop the endo, instead it continues to grow buried under scar tissue which is very painful when you are bleeding. At any rate, it is going to take a while for your body to re-adjust to the pills. When I started taking them continuously, it took two years for my period to actually stop. Until that I bled non-stop for two years. Of course my doctor tried out several different pills on me before he found the one that worked, and he had to bump me up to the high dosage pills before we found one that worked...but what I am saying is, make sure you are using the pills correctly, and then be patient. Unfortunately, the hard truth about this disease is that there is not a lot known about it, therefore the treatments are severly lacking in their effectiveness. I wish you luck!!
